IMMEDIATE SUPPORT FOR THE AFGHAN PEOPLE - Letters sent to the presidents of some European countries - 23/08/2021

Letters sent to the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, the President of the French Republic, the President of the Italian Republic and the President of the Swiss Confederation. 

Text of the letter:

Your Excellency,

My name is Mariacarmela Ribecco (Human Rights Activist) and I am writing to ask for your help and support for the Afghan people.

Starting from May 2021, a new offensive by the Taliban militias began, which in a few weeks conquered Afghanistan. The Taliban entered Kabul on August 15, 2021. President Ashraf Ghani left the country and a reborn Islamic emirate of Afghanistan was established, led by Abdul Ghani Baradar.

A new reality that destabilizes a country that has tried, over the years, to find the strength to be able to get out of war and rediscover peace, the protection of human rights, the protection of religious minorities and the protection of women. A process undermined today by the Taliban regime.

I ask for humanitarian corridors.

I ask for support for Afghan families on the run.

I ask the right of asylum for human rights activists, journalists, translators and citizens threatened by the Taliban regime.

I ask for cooperation and help for the Afghan people who deserve all our support.
